Green light for £22m Torquay ‘transformation’ package

In News by

Torquay has been awarded a “transformational” £22m for a package of new schemes to revamp and revitalise the town centre. It is one of just seven towns across the country to get the green light in this phase.

It means work can begin on ‘once in a generation’ schemes including getting the seafront Pavilion back up to standard where it can be taken on by a developer, and supporting the building of a new railway station at Edginswell.

The money is designed to boost the local economy, get more homes built and support local businesses.

Torquay, Devon, is one of the first seven towns across the country to have a funding offer made as part of a landmark £3.6bn Government scheme aimed at levelling up local economies and creating jobs by investing in transport, infrastructure and skills.

Some really positive news for Torquay! This will really help market Torquay as THE staycation destination in Devon and the Southwest! This is some really great marketing for the bay!
