About Our 2025/2026 Employers’ National Insurance Calculator

In the Autumn 2024 Budget, the UK Government introduced several new tax-raising measures.

Among them was a 1.2% increase in the rate of National Insurance contributions that employers pay on their employees’ wages, with this rising from 13.8% to 15%. In addition, the annual salary threshold at which employers start paying National Insurance contributions was reduced from £9100 to £5000.

It’s no surprise that these tax rises panicked many businesses, who were left scrambling to work out how much their costs would increase, and how they would pay for them. To help employers plan ahead, we’ve created this free, easy-to-use tool that calculates what they will be required to pay in National Insurance contributions on individual salaries from the 2025/2026 tax year onwards.

And don’t forget that from April 2025 the Employment Allowance has been increased from £5000 to £10500 and extended to cover larger businesses too, which means if your business is eligible, you can claim a reduction of £10500 in the amount of Employers National Insurance contributions you have to pay each year.

This also means that if you were due to pay less than £10500 in annual Employer’s National Insurance contributions, you now won’t have to pay anything at all.

‘Employers – especially small businesses – may feel aggrieved at an increase to employers’ national insurance. But freelancers and contractors can be more positive about this tax change. The cost of employing people will increase, which could lead to a surge in demand for freelancers and contractors engaged off-payroll.
