The Calculator Tool Helps Employers Work Out How Much National Insurance To Pay HMRC Per Employee From The 2025/2026 Tax Year
Digital marketing agency R50 Marketing, based in Newton Abbot, Devon, has created an Employer’s National Insurance Contribution calculator tool for the 2025/2026 tax year and beyond.
The agency developed the tool to make it easier for employers to calculate the amount of National Insurance they need to pay HMRC per employee based on their annual salary. And due to R50 Marketing’s desire to make the tool accessible for businesses of all sizes, the company have released their calculator for free and ensured it is as easy to use as possible.
The tool, available on R50 Marketing’s website, was created in response to the tax-raising measures introduced by the UK Government in their Autumn 2024 Budget.
These included a 1.2% increase in the rate of National Insurance Contributions that employers pay on their employee’s salaries, with this rising from 13.8% to 15%. Meanwhile, the annual salary threshold at which employers start paying National Insurance Contributions was reduced from £9100 to £5000, meaning that many businesses who were previously exempt would now be expected to begin making payments.
Further increasing the complexity, several other measures were introduced to make National Insurance Contributions more manageable for employers from April 2025, such as eligible businesses being able to claim a reduction of £10,500 in the amount of Employers’ National Insurance Contributions paid each year.
Due to the number and scale of these changes, many employers have been concerned about how they will be affected, and how they will calculate their contributions according to the new regulations. Unfortunately, this task has been made harder due to the updates to the National Insurance rates meaning many previously available National Insurance Contribution calculators are now out of date.
That’s why, to help employers plan ahead, R50 Marketing created their up-to-date calculator, with scores of businesses already using it every day to work out what they will owe in Employers’ National Insurance Contributions under the updated rates.
As Alex Belsey, SEO Specialist at R50 Marketing, explained:
“We knew that the increased rate of Employers’ National Insurance Contributions would cause headaches for many businesses – not just because of the extra money they may have to pay HMRC each year, but also because of the need to plan for the increased rate and budget accordingly.
“There were existing Employers’ National Insurance Contribution calculators available online, but these were either using the previous tax rate – making them out of date – or difficult to understand. We thought creating an up-to-date, more user-friendly calculator tool would be helpful for businesses, and so far this has certainly been the case. We’re delighted that so many people have already used the calculator and given us such great feedback!”
