SEO Case Study: A Logistics Company

The Client:

Our client is an express logistics and courier company that operates throughout the UK, EU, and wider European continent, offering services such as hiab hire, exhibition transport & logistics, express deliveries, hazardous freight transport, Aircraft on Ground (AOG) transport, same day deliveries, and more.

The client came to us as they were looking to increase the number of new customers that their website was generating – particularly with regard to express courier and delivery services throughout Europe.

As part of our strategy for them, we recommended an SEO campaign.

The Process:

The SEO campaign began in June 2023, and our first step involved carrying out detailed keyword research to identify relevant search terms that our client’s ideal customers would be searching for in Google. Throughout this step, it was important to only shortlist phrases that would not be too difficult for the company’s website to rank high in the search results for.

By the end of this keyword research process, we had found 179 keywords that were relevant to the client, their goals, and the services they were looking to promote.

Having identified the target keywords, we then began the task of creating new pages on the client’s website that were optimised for these target phrases.

With a long list of 179 keywords to work from, this proved to be an extended process that is currently ongoing!

Each of the new SEO-optimised pages that we publish to the client website features human-produced content which is 1000+ words long and closely tailored to the target keywords. The lengthy word count is necessary to clearly communicate to Google’s search engine crawlers what topic each of the SEO-optimised pages is focused on.

In addition to publishing new pages to the website, we also used a couple of more advanced SEO techniques, including adding Schema code throughout the website to help Google better understand the services that our client provides, and where they are located.

As a bonus, Schema code can also help to increase a website’s Click Through Rate – i.e. the percentage of people who visit a website after seeing it displayed in the search results. This is important as it increases the amount of website traffic that a business receives, therefore giving them a larger audience of potential customers.

The Results:

In June 2023, at the time our SEO campaign began, our client’s website ranked on page one of the Google search results for only 5 of our 179 target keywords.

But by the end of 2023, after our SEO campaign had been active for six months, their website ranked on page one of the Google search results for 28 of the 179 keywords – an increase of over 550%.

In addition, the site was now ranking near the very top of the search results – including multiple top 3 rankings – for several particularly valuable keywords, when it had not even been in the top 100 results for these search phrases just six months prior.

As a result of these improved rankings, traffic to the client website from the Google search results has increased significantly.

For instance, our software tools show that the number of website visitors generated via SEO increased by over 111% during the August 2023 – November 2023 period alone, with the number of search impressions increasing by 129% during this same time frame. 

Due to these highly positive outcomes, our client has requested that we expand the scope of our SEO campaign, so that it covers more target keywords and promotes more of their services to a wider audience.

To accomplish this, we will now conduct further keyword research based on the expanded services list that the client has provided, so that we can identify which new phrases their website should be optimised for, in order to produce maximum SEO benefits.

Then, the process of creating and publishing new pages to their website based around these target keywords will continue.

Once all the necessary keyword-optimised pages have been added to the website, we will then move on to the next stage of our SEO campaign, which will involve building as many high-quality backlinks to the client website as possible, while also securing social shares of the website’s content across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn, as these are both factors that tend to produce substantial SEO improvements over time.
